Live In Care Giver Visa Canada

Live in Caregiver Visa is for the individuals who take care of the children, elderly people, physically or mentally challenged people in a private home without any supervision in Canada. In order to qualify as a nanny in Canada, all applicants must meet the requirements set by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) under the foreign caregiver program. The Live-in Caregiver Program allows professional caregivers to work in Canada. 



To be eligible to apply for this visa applicant should:-

  • Have a positive Labour market opinion from Employer in Canada. This needs to be undertaken at employers end by submitting the contract of employment mentioning working conditions, wages and their inability to find suitable Canadian citizen or permanent resident for the job by applying to HRSDC.
  • A written contract with your future employer, signed by you and the employer and it should be in the specific format given by HRSDC.
  • Have completed an education equivalent to secondary level or at least 12 years of education.
  • Should have at least 6 months classroom training in early childhood education, geriatric care, paediatric nursing or first aid or 1-year full time working experience as a caregiver in past 3 years.
  • Should have a minimum 6 overall IELTS band score

Additional requirements for applicants:

  • Latest Updated Resume
  • Reference letters from past and present employers
  • Two to four photos on a casual basis with children or elderly (that you have taken care of)
  • One to three character references
  • A 'Dear Family' letter to your prospect employer (handwritten)
  • Proof of educational transcripts as required by Canadian Embassy.
  • Caregiver training certificates and any other certificates
  • Police clearance from the country which you are living in for at least six months
  • A Driving Licence will shore up your case.
  • Any household and cooking certificate will beef up your file.
  • Swimming Skills will a muscle.

Next steps after the Issuance of Work Permit:

  • A work permit is not a travel document. You must also get a passport and the Immigration Officer will issue a Canadian Temporary Visa (TRV) to the caregiver. The requirements for a passport and TRV will depend on whether or not your country of citizenship requires a visa to enter Canada.
  • Upon the arrival to Canada, the live-in caregiver will show her valid passport and the letter of approval from the visa post where she came from to the Immigration Officer, on that time the officer will issue a work permit to the live-in caregiver, dated the day of her Port of Entry into Canada.
